Biography

Laura-Lynn has a distinctive life story that has birthed in her a heart of compassion for humanity and the ability to help her audience laugh at the difficulties of life and overcome in the face of tragedy and failure.  She herself has found the true joy that produces wholeness and healing.  In her 12-year media career, comedic speaker and national television host, Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson, The Daily with Mark and Laura-Lynn, has interviewed such fabulous guests as Dog the Bounty Hunter, Henry Winkler (the Fonz), Stedman Graham (Oprah's beau), Jesse Metcalf and Josh Duhamel.  Plus many great men and women of faith like Josh McDowell, Dr. Tony Campolo, Liz Curtis Higgs, Dr. Gary Smalley, Patsy Clairmont, Thelma Wells, Dr. Gary Chapman, Tammy Trent and Dr. John Townsend (Boundaries), to name a few.  Over 90 of her personal interviews have aired on the BIOGRAPHY Channel Canada.  She is the new host for a national daily show, 700 Club Canada.

What’s The Story?

Born to missionary parents in Kampala, Uganda, Laura-Lynn grew up understanding that life could be very brutal. In 1973, her father witnessed an army general murder their town mayor, one block from their home.

Shortly thereafter, President Idi Amin Dada, the military dictator of Uganda at the time, deported her family. After this traumatic experience in losing the place she called home, Laura-Lynn moved to Tuktoyaktuk in the Northwest Territories, where she lived for three years. "It was like going from the oven to the freezer." 

In 1999, after a series of personal crisis and brokenness, God powerfully and supernaturally called her to television late one night as she was folding laundry.  Feeling unworthy and somewhat perplexed by this direction, she began an adventure that has become the ride of her life.  Laura-Lynn has an often hilarious recounting of events, which led to her national television career.  As she found out, “the road to success is often paved with complete ineptness”.  Laura-Lynn did not let her quirky, eccentric, unconventional personality set her back.  Instead she embraced all that God had created her to be and turned it into a talk show!

First Book Is Coming Soon…

She is currently writing her first book entitled "Outrageous Relentless Redemption" which will reveal the story of the failure she thought would destroy her.  She will write for the first time of the decimation she experienced through her own and others’ choices.  It was at the very darkest hour that God revealed His true identity, His heart of compassion and mercy. It is the story of tragedy caught in mid-air by the astonishing net of redemption.  It will inspire every reader to never, never, never give up!  Keep an eye out for this inspiring book, soon to be released.

Where Her Heart Is.

Her experiences have ranged from outrageous & exhilarating to heart breaking & life altering. Laura-Lynn brings her light-hearted yet profound, straight-to-the-point insight to her audience.

In a dynamic and candid way she refuses to offer anything less than honest, gut-level truth.  Having hit her own rock bottom, she is able to convey with certainty that there is hope beyond despair and life after seeming death. 

She is now investing her spare time and energies in building a village that will focus on poverty eradication, in the land that she loves; the land of her birth, Uganda. She has already spearheaded the building of three homes for widows and their children.

Today…

Today, Laura-Lynn resides in Vancouver with her husband, their three children, and their mischievous dog, Tallula.  Laura-Lynn also loves her extended family, high-risk youth, who come and live with them in their home.  “There is no greater joy than pouring out one’s life to those who can never repay you.”
