This week has been a season of "serious fun" and even more serious sobering truths as we watch the Lord continue His deep cleaning within the Church. From the heartbreaking financial allegations involving Pastor John Perks in British Columbia to the "tithe auctions" and faked prophecies of big-name ministers like Paula White and Chris Reed, the message is clear: God is done with the grift. I’m reminded of the "Roto-Rooter" dream Andrew Whalen had about Mike Winger; the process of unclogging the sewage in our spiritual houses is messy, and sometimes pipes we thought were solid end up breaking, but the junk must come out for the sake of the sheep.

We also took a hard look at the ongoing charade at Daystar, where reruns are being passed off as live broadcasts and a mother’s betrayal of her own son has become a modern-day cautionary tale. Seeing the "gut of steel" commitment Doug Weiss once professed to his wife, Lisa, cast aside just years later for a new life at the helm of a ministry is a staggering reminder that pride truly does go before the fall. It is a lonesome journey to stand for the truth when the world prefers the theater, but I would not trade the favor of God for the favor of man for anything.

As we navigate these storms together, my prayer is that we would all invite the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and keep a short list with God. We must be a people of "humble integrity and obedience," standing by the victims and refusing to be silent while evil goes unchecked. Our mission remains the same, to expose the works of darkness while reaching out to the poorest of the poor through our home makeovers and outreach. PRIDE GOES BEFORE THE FALL

I have often said that the Lord is doing a deep cleaning in His house, and the first video of this week is a sobering look at what happens when accountability is cast aside. We recently navigated a very difficult situation involving a pastor here in British Columbia where serious financial allegations came to light. While it’s been a lonesome journey at times, I am encouraged that after sounding the alarm, we’ve seen a willingness to step into transparency and submit to godly oversight. We must remember that while God is a God of great grace whose mercies are new every morning that grace is never a license to allow victims to be made or for pride to go unchecked.

In this update, I also dive into the troubling patterns we see in the New Apostolic Reformation and the "prophetic" movement, where leaders use spiritual gifts as a means for control or financial gain. From the faked prophecies of Chris Reed to the manipulative "tithe auctions" of Paula White, the church has too often become a circus that makes the charismatic faith look ridiculous. I shared the heartbreaking story of a young woman abused by spiritual control because I want us to walk in the true fear of the Lord, not in the fear of man. My prayer is that we would all keep a short list with God, remaining humble and obedient, so that we can truly be the light our communities so desperately need.

THERE’S A FORTUNE TO BE MADE IN SELLING TOMORROW’S LIES

This next video is a vital snippet from that last broadcast that I simply had to highlight on its own because it exposes the "mercenary" spirit that has crept into our pulpits. In it, we look at the appalling tactics used by those like Paula White, who essentially hold prayer hostage for a $100,000 "seed," turning the tithe into a high-pressure auction. It is a heartbreaking reminder of how far some have strayed, targeting the wealthy with "personalized prophecies" and accumulating tens of millions in assets while the world around them remains in poverty. I felt it was crucial to share this segment separately to serve as a clear warning: when the ministry becomes more about the "shiny truck" or the private jet than about humble obedience to God, we have a serious problem that requires us to stand up and say, "Not on our watch."

DAYSTAR ON RERUNS

I’ve been reflecting on the "serious fun" we can have even in these heavy times, and this week’s show, "Daystar On Reruns," is a perfect example of why we must keep our eyes open. I opened the Word to Daniel 9, where my father had highlighted verses about a king of fierce countenance who understands dark sentences standing up in the last days. It’s a sobering reminder that we are living in a season of intense exposure, what I like to call a "righteous marauding," where God is using people like Mike Winger to skillfully unclog the mess in His house. Like a "Roto-Rooter" for the soul, this process is messy and pipes might break, but the junk must come out if the church is to be the healthy, holy body it was meant to be.

We also took a close look at the ongoing charade at Daystar, where they are literally playing reruns from last year's fundraising campaign as if they are live. It is heartbreaking to see the same tired manipulation being used on those who donate out of the goodness of their hearts, all while the leadership remains entangled in a web of betrayal and hidden agendas. From tracking devices in cars to a mother turning her back on her own son for the sake of a man, the story of Daystar has become an epic modern-day cautionary tale. My prayer is that we would all invite the Lord to search our own hearts, as David did in Psalm 139, so that we can walk in truth and have no part in the "grift" that has unfortunately become so common in the modern-day church.

TILL DIVORCE DO US PART

This short clip highlights a truly staggering contradiction that we must look at when we consider the leadership currently at Daystar. In a letter written just a few years ago, Doug Weiss spoke with such conviction about his marriage to Lisa, even joking that "murder was an option but divorce never." He described a "gut of steel" when it came to their long-term commitment and promised they would stay together until death. It is heartbreaking and deeply confusing to see those beautiful sentiments cast aside only three years later when he decided it was over. We have to ask ourselves what happened to that "steel" commitment and why these words of absolute loyalty seemingly meant so little in the end.
